Package Contents and Build Quality
The package for my Bitaxe Gamma 601 included the miner itself, a stainless steel mount, a power supply, and a user manual.
The mount allows the device to be secured according to the intended installation. The included manual describes the basic steps for setting up the device.
For my test, I first set up the device and then connected it to a power source.

Setting Up the Bitaxe Gamma 601
Setting up the Bitaxe Gamma 601 was quick and easy in my test.
1. Attach the mount and start the device
First, attach the stainless steel mount to the designated housing or mounting location. Then connect the miner to the power supply and turn it on.
2. Configure Wi-Fi
After startup, connect to the miner’s Wi-Fi and then set up the connection to your home network.
Once the connection is established, you can access the device’s user interface in your browser.

3. Set up a mining pool
The next step is to configure a mining pool. To do this, enter the relevant connection details for the selected pool into the web interface.
I chose Braiins to participate in the mining pool. The setup process was easy to follow, even for a beginner like me.
After that, the miner was ready to start working.
Hashrate in a Real-World Test
The hashrate describes how many hash calculations a miner can perform per second. It is an important factor in mining performance.
Based on my observations so far, the Bitaxe Gamma 601 achieves a hashrate of approximately 1.1 TH/s. Over a period of about one hour, my average observed hashrate was around 1.007 TH/s.
The displayed performance may fluctuate. Therefore, one should not confuse individual snapshots with long-term average performance.
For a meaningful comparison, it would be helpful to monitor the hashrate over a longer period and document the values regularly.
My results so far: The hashrate is in the range I expected for this compact miner.

Initial Mining Results with Braiins
After setting up the miner, I was already able to see my first mining earnings.
Since the previous evening, my miner had generated approximately 0.00000018 BTC. This is the yield displayed by my mining pool up to that point.
It’s important to distinguish between solo mining and pool mining: In a pool, earnings are distributed according to the provider’s rules and the contribution made. In classic solo mining, on the other hand, you don’t receive a proportional Bitcoin payout for every small computational contribution.
The earnings to date are therefore a snapshot and not a reliable forecast of future earnings.

Power Consumption of the Bitaxe Gamma 601
A key advantage of the Bitaxe Gamma 601 is its low power consumption compared to large mining systems.
To calculate electricity costs, I’ll use an average power consumption of 17 watts as an example. This value was not measured by me during my test.
Assuming an electricity price of 0.30 euros per kilowatt-hour, the following costs result:
| Time Period | Power Consumption | Electricity Costs |
|---|---|---|
| Per hour | 0.017 kWh | 0.0051 € |
| Per day | 0.408 kWh | 0.12 € |
| Per month | 12.24 kWh | 3.67 € |
| Per year | 148.92 kWh | 44.68 € |
This calculation assumes that the miner runs 24 hours a day at an average of 17 watts.
Actual power consumption may vary depending on device settings and the power supply. For an accurate measurement, it would be helpful to use a power strip meter that tracks the power consumption of the entire system.
Noise Level and Temperature
Noise level and temperature also play an important role in a device intended for home use.
During my test, the Bitaxe Gamma 601 was relatively quiet. However, the fan was audible due to a slight whistling sound.
The temperature reading in AxeOS was approximately 60 °C during use.
Based on my testing so far, the device has made an unremarkable impression. However, a longer-term measurement would be necessary to more accurately assess its temperature behavior during continuous operation.
How realistic is finding a Bitcoin block?
The Bitaxe Gamma 601 can be used for Bitcoin mining. However, the probability of finding a complete Bitcoin block with its comparatively low hashrate is very low.
In solo mining, you attempt to find a valid block on your own. If the Bitcoin network accepts it, the successful miner receives the designated block reward and the transaction fees from the block.
The key factor is the ratio between your own hashrate and the total computing power of the Bitcoin network. Large mining companies operate many high-performance ASIC miners and thus account for a significantly larger share of the total computing power.
In contrast, the Bitaxe Gamma 601, with approximately 1.1 TH/s, accounts for only a very small portion of that total.
You can think of it like a lottery: Higher computing power increases the chance of finding a block. However, success is not guaranteed even after a long mining period.
Why isn’t a long operating time a guarantee?
Every mining attempt is a new attempt to find a valid block hash. While running the miner for several months or years increases the cumulative chance of a hit, it does not guarantee success.
Therefore, you should not view Bitaxe as a reliable source of income.
Is mining financially worthwhile?
Low power consumption does not automatically mean that a miner is profitable. In addition to electricity costs, the purchase price, hashrate, changes in network performance, and actual mining returns also play a role.
The Bitaxe Gamma 601 is therefore primarily of interest to tech enthusiasts who want to try Bitcoin mining for themselves. Anyone looking to earn money regularly should be aware that solo mining does not offer predictable income.
Do you need fast internet?
A stable internet connection is particularly important for operating the Bitaxe Gamma 601. A single miner typically does not require exceptionally high bandwidth.
In my testing so far, the device connected to Wi-Fi without any issues. The connection to the mining pool has also remained stable so far.
This is an advantage for home use: You don’t need your own data center or a particularly fast internet connection to start experimenting.

Beginners: Anyone willing to learn about Wi-Fi, the web interface, and setting up a mining pool can gain hands-on experience with the basics of mining.
People who want to make money: Those expecting regular income should adjust their expectations. A Bitcoin block reward isn’t realistic at this hashrate. While pool mining can yield smaller proportional returns, these depend on the specific pool and the actual work performed.
Conclusion – Is the Bitaxe Gamma 601 worth recommending?
Setting up the Bitaxe Gamma 601 was quick and easy in my test. The included manual clearly explains the necessary steps, and configuring the connection to the mining pool was also straightforward.
Based on my observations so far, the hashrate has been around 1.1 TH/s, with an average of approximately 1.007 TH/s observed over the course of about an hour.
The noise level and temperature have also been unremarkable during the testing period so far. While the fan is faintly audible, the displayed temperature was around 60 °C.
I haven’t measured the power consumption myself yet. The calculated operating costs are therefore based on an assumed power consumption of 17 watts.
My conclusion so far: The Bitaxe Gamma 601 is an interesting device for me to get started with Bitcoin mining. It’s worth considering, especially for tech enthusiasts who want to try out a compact miner and understand how it works.
On the other hand, anyone hoping for regular profits should proceed with caution. The low hashrate makes successfully mining a block solo highly unlikely. The appeal of the device therefore lies more in technical experimentation than in predictable income.
