BERTRAND Classic Natural
For my first personal test, I tried the classic BERTRAND Classic Natural Shake.
The consistency is slightly thick. There are also larger pieces of nuts in the shake that you have to chew as you drink it. It takes a little getting used to at first, but it gives me more of a feeling of a real meal than that of a typical protein shake.
Taste-wise, the shake is generally fine, though a bit bland. The grain flavor, in particular, is quite noticeable. Still, it’s easy to drink.
After drinking it, I initially felt full. At that point, I couldn’t yet tell how long that feeling of fullness would last. I wanted to observe that more closely as my test progressed.
My first impression: The BERTRAND Classic Natural is easy to drink, but the taste takes some getting used to. The nut pieces give it a unique texture that might not appeal to everyone.
After the Third Shake: Taste, Satiety, and Energy
By now, I’ve already had my third BERTRAND Classic Natural shake. I still need to get used to the taste, though. In addition to the distinct grain flavor, I’m now noticing, above all, a pronounced nutty note and a slightly milky taste.
As for satiety, a first impression is emerging: my hunger returns after about two to three hours. Another shake temporarily suppresses the hunger again.
My overall well-being has also been good so far. As for my energy levels, I can’t complain either. I feel fit and focused.
My interim conclusion after three shakes: Taste-wise, the BERTRAND Classic Natural still takes some getting used to for me. The feeling of fullness lasts about two to three hours, while my energy levels have remained good so far. I’ll continue to monitor how these impressions develop over a longer testing period.
On the second day, I tried the Bertrand Vegan Shake. The shake tastes a bit more like grains and wasn’t quite as flavorful as the Natural Shake. Still, I was impressed by how full it made me feel and the energized sensation afterward.
BERTRAND Cereal Bar Natural: Sweet Oat Flavor
I’ve also tried the BERTRAND Cereal Bar Natural. The bar’s flavor reminds me of pressed oatmeal. It’s slightly sweet and, unlike the shake, offers something to chew on.
As far as satiety goes, the bar made a good impression during my first test. It clearly fills me up and satisfies my hunger.
I also find the flavor quite enjoyable. While the oat flavor is very pronounced, it’s pleasantly complemented by the slight sweetness. I also see it as an advantage to have something to chew on during a meal.
My first impression of the BERTRAND Cereal Bar Natural is therefore positive. I’ll continue to observe in further testing how long the feeling of fullness actually lasts and whether this impression holds true with regular consumption.
BERTRAND White Matcha Bar: A Matcha Flavor
That Takes Some Getting Used To For me, the flavor of the BERTRAND White Matcha Bar takes significantly more getting used to than that of the Natural bar.
When I first tried it, the taste reminded me of porridge with green vegetables. The oats are clearly noticeable, accompanied by a slight sweetness. According to the ingredient list, oats, rice syrup, and soy protein play a major role.
The bar strikes me as very high quality. In terms of taste, however, it doesn’t fully win me over. I’m particularly left with the slightly bitter, somewhat powdery aftertaste of the matcha.
My first impression: The White Matcha Bar is likely to appeal most to people who enjoy the typical matcha flavor. For me personally, the combination with the pronounced oat flavor still takes some getting used to.
BERTRAND ChunkyCHOK Bar: Chocolate and Oats
So far, I like the taste of the BERTRAND ChunkyCHOK Bar much better.
The flavor is pleasant and reminds me of oatmeal porridge with dark chocolate. The combination of almonds, oats, and cocoa creates a richer flavor without making the bar taste too sweet to me.
The ChunkyCHOK Bar also makes a good impression in terms of satiety. After eating it, I feel much less hungry.
I especially like the combination of the nutty flavor, the oats, and the dark chocolate note. In a direct comparison with the White Matcha Bar, this bar suits my personal taste much better.
My first impression is therefore positive: The ChunkyCHOK Bar tastes great, reminds me of chocolatey porridge, and significantly satisfies my hunger.
Interim Conclusion: Five BERTRAND Products in a Taste Test
Based on my initial experiences with the BERTRAND Classic Natural and Vegan Shakes and the three bars, there are already clear differences in taste, texture, and how full I feel.
While I still need to get used to the taste of the Classic Natural Shake, I really like the Cereal Bar Natural with its sweet, oaty flavor. The White Matcha Bar takes some getting used to for me in terms of taste. The ChunkyCHOK Bar, on the other hand, wins me over with its combination of oats, almonds, and dark chocolate.
In terms of satiety, both the Cereal Bar Natural and the ChunkyCHOK Bar have made a good impression so far. With the Classic Natural Shake, my hunger returns after about two to three hours.
These are my personal experiences from the initial tastings. I’ll continue to observe how the products perform in terms of taste, satiety, and suitability for everyday use as the test progresses.
Day 3: Two Days on BERTRAND Alone
Today is my third day of the BERTRAND self-experiment. I’ve now been eating nothing but BERTRAND pouches and bars for two days.
What stands out to me most is that I’ve felt very fit so far. I also feel my energy levels are good, and subjectively, I even feel like I have more energy than before.
Of course, this is just my personal impression. I’ll keep an eye on whether this feeling holds up over a longer period as I continue the self-experiment.
BERTRAND Active Vegan Shake: Very thick and takes some getting used to
Today I tested the BERTRAND Active Vegan Shake. Taste-wise, this shake also takes some getting used to for me at first. It reminds me a lot of the BERTRAND Vegan Shake I tested earlier and is also particularly thick.
The main ingredients include, among others, rolled oats, canola oil powder, pea protein, and almonds. I find the composition—with its plant-based protein—interesting in principle.
In terms of taste, however, the Active Vegan Shake hasn’t impressed me as much so far as the other shakes I’ve tested. Above all, the combination of its very thick consistency and strong flavor makes it a bit harder for me to drink.
My first impression: For me, the BERTRAND Active Vegan Shake stands out primarily for its composition and the plant-based protein it contains. In terms of taste and consistency, however, it definitely takes some getting used to. I’ll keep an eye on whether my impression changes after several servings and how long the shake keeps me full as I continue testing it.
BERTRAND Chunky Peanut Bar: A Delicious Taste
I also tested the BERTRAND Chunky Peanut Bar. In terms of taste, this bar definitely won me over. I really like the combination of peanuts and the other ingredients, which makes this bar one of the more interesting options flavor-wise for me.
In terms of ingredients, however, I don’t see any particularly significant differences compared to the other BERTRAND bars. For me, the key difference therefore lies more in the taste.
Day 4: BERTRAND Active Natural Shake
Today marks the fourth day in a row that I’ve been eating nothing but BERTRAND products. I tried the BERTRAND Active Natural Shake.
So far, I like the taste of this shake better than the two vegan varieties. I think one possible reason for this is the ingredients: Just like the Classic Natural I tested earlier, this one also contains skim milk powder.
The main ingredients include, among others, rolled oats, canola oil powder, and milk protein concentrate.
In a direct comparison with the shakes I’ve tested so far, the Active Natural has impressed me the most. I find the taste and consistency more pleasant, which also makes it easier for me to drink.
Conclusion after four days of the BERTRAND self-test
I’ve now been eating exclusively BERTRAND products for four days. My expectations so far have actually been exceeded.
I’ve been particularly pleasantly surprised by how full I feel. During the test so far, I haven’t felt particularly hungry, and I found the shakes, in particular, to be quite filling. My energy levels also remain good, in my personal opinion.
Of course, four days aren’t enough to draw any conclusions about how well this kind of diet works in the long term. However, my impression so far has been positive.
In terms of taste, it has also become clear that
